Dawn-6G

On Friday, April 10, progress within the DAWN-6G project was presented at Nokia, where GTI is actively collaborating on the development of advanced immersive teleoperation solutions.

Within this framework, a use case focused on real-time monitoring of an operator driving a robotic vehicle was showcased, incorporating the use of a virtual reality headset to enable a fully immersive experience.

The demo, developed by David Barbero and Carlos Cortés from GTI, represents an initial prototype of what is yet to come. It integrates, within a single application, the visualization of a virtual environment where the user is placed inside a vehicle, while the system simultaneously monitors signals such as pupil dilation, gaze tracking, and head rotation in real time, providing key insights into the operator’s state and behavior during driving.

This work marks an important step within the project, which aims to move towards safer, more intelligent, and adaptive systems. There is still significant work ahead, including the integration of additional biosensors and the application of machine learning techniques to anticipate situations such as stress or fatigue.

The DAWN-6G project continues to explore the potential of 6G technologies to enable new forms of interaction and remote control in complex environments.
