IDEAL-CV

Yesterday, April 16, a new plenary meeting of the IDEAL-CV project was held at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación, specifically at the Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes (GTI).

The IDEAL-CV project focuses on the development of advanced computer vision systems based on deep learning techniques, capable of addressing complex visual analysis problems with high levels of accuracy, robustness, and efficiency.

In the current landscape, these technologies are playing a key role in the digital transformation of multiple sectors, with applications ranging from computer-aided medical diagnosis to autonomous mobility, video compression, and the deployment of smart infrastructures, as well as in emerging areas such as precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and intelligent retail.

The meeting is part of the project’s quarterly coordination cycle, involving all consortium institutions (CSIC, UC3M, UAM, and UPM). Its main objective was to share the latest scientific and technical progress.

During the session, developments related to new deep learning architectures, training and validation strategies, and results obtained across different use cases were presented.

In addition, the overall project status was reviewed in relation to the planned roadmap and key performance indicators (KPIs), assessing progress towards objectives and identifying potential adjustment actions. Financial management aspects were also discussed, including updates on the recent 2025 reporting process.

Finally, progress was made on the organization of the IDEAL-CV 2026 Summer School, which will take place at UC3M on June 15–17, and will serve as a platform for specialized training and scientific exchange in the field of computer vision.
