In the Projects in Data Engineering and Systems (PIDS) course of the Data Engineering Degree at ETSIT – UPM, we experienced a day that felt straight out of a science-fiction movie. It all began with a simple yet powerful idea: we didn’t want to create weapons… we wanted to create intelligence. And during the final demos, we achieved exactly that.

The projects obeyed every command, every line, every impulse. Vehicle detection systems, autonomous driving models, robots navigating their environment, deep neural networks that seemed almost alive in the way they learned… For a moment, we thought we were in control, until the complexity of these creations reminded us that artificial intelligence always keeps a touch of unpredictability.

But unlike in the movies, here there is no fear, only learning. In PIDS, we understand, guide and design technology with responsibility and rigor. Because the code may learn to survive, but our students learn to master it.

Today we didn’t just see projects. We saw talent, imagination… and a future already taking shape.
