GTI at PTS2025: Showcasing Cutting-Edge Virtual Production Technology

The Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes (GTI) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is presenting groundbreaking innovation at the Production Technology Seminar (PTS2025), hosted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva.

PTS XRECO3  PTS XRECO2

Julián Cabrera Quesada and Javier Usón Peirón, researchers from GTI, are demonstrating the Virtual Production Tech Demo: 3D Humans with Free Viewpoint Video in Unity. This advanced technology, developed as part of the XReco European project, enables the 3D capture and reconstruction of people within interactive virtual environments.

The demo utilizes volumetric reconstruction techniques to generate realistic 3D representations of humans from multiple viewpoints (FVV Live). Integrated into the Unity platform, this innovation paves the way for enhanced capabilities in virtual production, the metaverse, and immersive media environments.

The live demonstration is taking place in Geneva and will run from January 28 to 30, 2025.

For further insights into the XReco project and the technology being presented, please find more details below:

This work underscores the ongoing efforts at GTI to push the boundaries of media technology and 3D reconstruction, offering new possibilities for the future of virtual and immersive media.
