Honoring Narciso García

On October 1, 2025, the organizers of the International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX), paid a surprise tribute to Narciso García, a key figure in the development and consolidation of this international scientific community, in a gesture filled with affection and deep admiration.

The recognition, held during QoMEX 2025 in Madrid, highlighted the profound mark Narciso has made on us over decades of unwavering dedication to advancing multimedia analysis and experience research. Regarded by colleagues and PhD students as an undisputed reference in the field, Narciso has led with passion, rigor, and an ever-innovative vision numerous projects that have set standards and opened new research paths. His work has not only strengthened the scientific excellence of QoMEX, but also contributed decisively to shaping an international community defined by collaboration, quality, and human values. During the tribute, his academic and professional trajectory was emphasized, and so were his human qualities: his generosity in sharing knowledge, his constant support for young researchers, and his firm commitment to excellence. Every message and every gesture reflected the deep affection the community holds for him.

To perpetuate the memory of that very special day, we have shared a video of the tribute. Although its recording quality is not the best, it does capture sincerely and spontaneously the feeling of the moment, and the affection toward Narciso —- a small fragment of history worth being remembered.

Thank you for everything, Narciso. Your influence and your example will continue to guide the next generations, shaping the present and future of QoMEX.
